Melanie used acrylic paint to get the glowing light effect and dental floss for the cactus thorns. The background is her hand dyed fabric

What I really like about this quilt is how you took just a few pieces of fabric and put them together to make such a dramatic image. The relationship of the sky and cactus is intriguing, with the sky mirroring the vertical stripes of darks and lights that occur in the cactus. Your quilting suits the piece wonderfully--good job!
