Summer Challenge Results - Cynthia's Texture, Pattern and Color Scheme

My images were found on the internet.... texture of a concrete patio in basket weave pattern, the patterning on a starfish, and a color combination of lavender, purple and mustard.  Why do I find these interesting?

The texture and shapes of the concrete give interesting and subtle variations in coloration and line up while being consistent enough to create a pattern. And it looks manmade, geometric  but weathered/wabi sabi.

The starfish patterning is an organic version of the concrete....more size, shape and coloration variations, but still reminiscent of a geometric pattern

The color combination?  Well, it's purple in all it's tints, tones and shades and who doesn't love purple?  The mustard color is an unexpected pop of color.  It's an ugly color alone but very interesting here with another usually strong color. It turns out to be stronger than purple...all that purple takes on a neutral role with just a bit of the mustard.

It would be fun to play with these elements together in a quilt.  I see a somewhat geometric pattern (the concrete patio) dissolving into the organic pattern (the starfish) put together in shades and tones of purple/lavender with bits of ugly mustard.

I just spent an hour looking at images, thinking about ones that appealed to me and why, and now I have a cool idea for an art quilt!  What can you do with your textures, patterns and/or color schemes?

Very pretty unusual color combinations with those mustard and purple colors.
