Wonders of the World with Perspective

Using a natural or manmade wonder of the world as inspiration, create an art quilt that has perspective        due May 12th

Perspective is a 2 dimensional illusion of a 3D subject or space

Here are some Devices to get Perspective:

Value – Light colors on a dark background will advance. Darker colors define shadows and lighter colors define area in light

Temperature- Warm colors come forward and cool colors recede. Cool colors define shadows and warm colors define area in light

Intensity- More saturated colors advance and define areas in light; dulled colors recede and define area areas in color

Texture – Greater, more definite texture advances and defines areas in light; less textured recedes and defines areas in shadow

Relative Size – Larger objects appear closer and smaller objects appear farther away

Overlapping – if one object covers a part of a second object, then the first object appears closer

Dimensioning Detail- Close objects appear sharp and clearly defined

Converging Lines – Two or more lines that get closer and closer towards the end, often to a vanishing point. Also known as one point linear perspective
