Challenge #27: The color Orange/Strip piecing

The Quilters Studio – Art Quilt Challenge 2nd Saturday of month 10:30 am (Sept to May)


Challenge #27 Orange with free form strip piecing! Sept 8th/due Oct 13th

Challenge: Use the color Orange along with other colors in a free form pieced art quilt. Any hues, shades, tints, and tones in the Orange, Red-Orange and/or Yellow Orange color families.

Free form strip piecing can be any technique you wish, such as:

• Sew various size strips together to form new fabric pieces.

• Cut up and reassemble into abstract design or background

• Fuse strips onto background fabric

• Foundation piece the strips aka string piecing

• Sew and flip directly onto the batting & backing

• Raw edge appliqué strips onto background fabric

• Horizontal strips in a landscape format

• “Strips” can be straight, wonky, curved or anything else you can imagine
