Challenge #29                A SENSE OF PLACE                 Nov 10^th /due Dec 8^th            

The term sense of place has been defined and used in many different ways by many different people. To some, it is a characteristic that some geographic places have and some do not, while to others it is a feeling or perception held by people (not by the place itself).   Our challenge is to depict this sense of place in a piece.  It does not have to be pictorial, it can be abstract or evocative or anything else.  It is about a place that is meaningful to you in some way.

Some things to consider:

·         Reflect back on where you grew up and where you live now. What are your memories of place? 

·         Think about what are your favorite spots and what characteristics that make it special or unique

·         Where do you feel a sense of attachment and belonging?

·         Gather the memories that the place brings back

·         Symbolize the emotion or sense that a particular place arouses

·         Focus on places that you frequent & the dominant sensations you feel
