Challenge 47 American Western Art

Using the one of the Master Painters of the Old Wild West (Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, Albert Bierstadt or any other American Western Artist), select a painting to use as your inspiration. Try to create a quilt that would be an abstract of this painting. You could use Cubism with shapes to depict your Western Painting in abstract style. Or you could capture the feel of the old west by using the composition, quality of light, lines or the color palette. Be sure to show us the painting you used for inspiration.

Some descriptors for Western art: brooding spirit, natural beauty, beautiful light, expansive skies, lines depicting action, foreground/midground/farground composition

There are several local places to see Western Art:

Frederic Remington and Charles Russell: Masterworks from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, will be on exhibit at the Longmont Museum through April 19, 2015.
